ClabAir Clinical Laboratory Air Quality Control System ClabAir is an ideal solution for clinical labs, microbiology labs and immunology labs to effectively prevent aerosol hazards throughout the clinical testing process.
Aerosols in Clinical Laboratories: An aerosol is a colloidal dispersion system formed by tiny solid or liquid particles suspended in a gaseous medium, also known as a gas dispersion system. There is a wide variety of microbe-laden aerosols with fine particles in the air. Nearly all highly pathogenic microorganisms can form microbial aerosols, posing infection risks to hospital staff.
According to follow-up tests conducted by the R&D team of Freshair on clinical laboratories in multiple hospitals, the airborne bacteria count exceeds hygiene standards in most work areas of clinical laboratories, with the highest aerosol concentration detected in microbiology labs.
Potential Hazards of Laboratory Aerosols:Clinical laboratories process large quantities of patients' blood, body fluids and secretions daily. These specimens generally contain various microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, chlamydiae and mycoplasmas. Infectious aerosols can be generated in every step of handling infectious specimens. Inhalation of such aerosols will easily cause laboratory-acquired infections and even lead to the spread of pathogens.
Among infections occurring in clinical laboratory staff, 18% are identifiable while 82% remain untraced. Pathogenic microbial aerosols are the primary cause of staff infections and pose severe health threats. Hence, preventing infections triggered by these aerosols has become an urgent task.
